Deputy Municipal Clerk, Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics, Secretary
Board/Commission, and Clerk 1 (One Full-Time Position)


The Borough of Ogdensburg is seeking one (1) full-time, highly motivated and
experienced individual to serve as the Deputy Municipal Clerk, Deputy Registrar
of Vital Statistics, Secretary Board/Commission, and Clerk 1. The successful
candidate will possess excellent communication, clerical, organizational, and
computer skills, especially MS Office. The applicant must be able to interact well
with the public, assist in the daily operations of the municipal office, and multitask.
The duties to be performed shall include those set forth in each of the respective
Civil Service job specifications, or any portions thereof, and this advertisement,
and such other duties to be prescribed by the Mayor, Chief Financial Officer, or
Borough Clerk.

The successful candidate shall assist the Municipal Clerk in carrying out statutory
and other responsibilities, such as responding to OPRA requests, drafting meeting
agendas, minutes, resolutions, and ordinances, records management and retention,
election administration, processing licenses and permits, drafting general
correspondence and public notices, answering phone calls, responding to e-mails,
and such other actions required by state and local laws, rules, regulations, and
policies. The Deputy Municipal Clerk shall attend Council meetings and elections
as needed and shall be willing to assume all the duties of the Municipal Clerk in
her absence. RMC Certification preferred.

The duties to be performed as Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics shall include
assisting the Borough Registrar of Vital Statistics with keeping records of births,
marriages, deaths, and communicable diseases in the Borough. Duties will also
include responding to inquiries and processing clerical transactions, collecting fees,
and preparing general correspondence and reports. CMR Certification preferred.
As Secretary Board/Commission, the successful candidate will aide and assist the
Borough Board of Health with clerical and support duties, including preparing for
meetings, drafting meeting agendas and minutes, assembling meeting materials,
coordinating the exchange of information between Board members, staff, and
applicants, drafting summaries, reports, and general correspondence, attending
Board meetings, and such other actions required by the Board.

As Clerk 1, the successful candidate will aide and assist the Borough Water and
Tax Departments with clerical and support duties, including routine clerical work,
answering phones and e-mail messages, filing, opening, and distributing mail,
receiving, sorting, indexing, and filing tax and water payments, checks, vouchers,
requisitions and other materials, keyboarding, typing and computer data entry,
records retention and management. Knowledge of MSI preferred.
