FIREARMS APPLICANTS GUIDE

Applicant must complete and submit to this department the following:

1. Applicant must complete and submit to this department, the appropriate application forms along with a mental health record release form. These forms are available at police headquarters. They must be picked up in person. An in depth explanation of this guide and all requirements  will be provided at the time the applicant appears to pick up the required forms

2. Applicant must submit at the time of application, a copy of his/her birth certificate.

3. Applicant will be fingerprinted on both SBI, and FBI applicant fingerprint cards.    

4. A fee of $5.00 will be collected by the officer at the time of application for  submission for a NJ Purchasers ID Card, and/or $2.00 (cash) for a Permit to Purchase a Handgun.

5. Applicant must submit a certified check or a money order in the amount of $54.00 made payable to DIVISION OF STATE POLICE-SBI, at the time of fingerprinting.
